Windshield Reseal

Materials 

Repair 

1. WARNING: WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, refer to Safety Warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

   Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .

2. Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
3. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
4. Remove the LH and RH sun visors and clips.
5. If equipped, remove the overhead console. Refer to: Overhead Console .
6. Lower the front portion of the headliner and block with a suitable material.
7. Clean the interior and exterior of the windshield glass surface with glass cleaner.

   Material: Sika Urethane Metal and Glass Primer / Sika 206 G+P

   Material: Dow Urethane One Step Glass Primer / Betaprime™ 5500/5500A/5500SA

   Material: Motorcraft® Ultra-Clear Spray Glass Cleaner / ZC-23 (ESR-M14P5-A)

8. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.
9. NOTE: Use either a high-ratio, air, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane adhesive with less effort and a continuous bead.
   NOTE: Make sure all gaps in the urethane adhesive are smoothed into one continuous bead.
10. Apply urethane adhesive over the existing urethane adhesive.

    Material: Sika® SikaTack® MACH 60 / Sika® SikaTack® MACH 30 / Dow® BETASEAL™ Express

    Material: Sika Tack ASAP Urethane Adhesive

11. • From inside the vehicle, apply the urethane adhesive to the top and sides of the windshield.

      Material: Sika® SikaTack® MACH 60 / Sika® SikaTack® MACH 30 / Dow® BETASEAL™ Express

      Material: Sika Tack ASAP Urethane Adhesive

    • From outside the vehicle, apply the urethane adhesive to the bottom of the windshield.

      Material: Sika® SikaTack® MACH 60 / Sika® SikaTack® MACH 30 / Dow® BETASEAL™ Express

      Material: Sika Tack ASAP Urethane Adhesive

12. NOTE: The urethane adhesive must cure for a minimum of one hour before testing for air or water leaks.

    After the urethane adhesive has cured, check the windshield seal for air or water leaks through the urethane adhesive bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.

13. Position the front portion of the headliner.
14. If equipped, install the overhead console. Refer to: Overhead Console .
15. Install the LH and RH sun visors and clips.
16. Install the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .
17. Install the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
18. Clean the interior and exterior windshield glass with glass cleaner.
