Pinpoint Test T : B1B36:14, B1B38:14, B1B40:14, B1B42:14

  1. T1 RETRIEVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PAM self-test.

    • Check the PAM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are multiple front parking aid sensor Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  GO to  T2
    No  For DTC B1B36:14, B1B38:14, B1B40:14 or B1B42:14, GO to  T3 For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the DTC Chart  in this information.
  2. T2 CHECK THE FRONT BUMPER WIRING HARNESS

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Inspect the front bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds, or corrosion.

    Is the front bumper wiring harness OK? 

    Yes  GO to  T3
    No  REPAIR or INSTALL a new front bumper wiring harness.
  3. T3 CHECK THE FRONT PARKING AID SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR OPENS

    • Disconnect: Suspect Parking Aid Sensor(s).

    • Disconnect: BCM C2280F.

    • For DTC B1B36:14, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For DTC B1B38:14, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For DTC B1B40:14, measure:

    • For DTC B1B42:14, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  T4
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  4. T4 CHECK THE FRONT PARKING AID SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR SHORTS TO GROUND

    • For DTC B1B36:14, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For DTC B1B38:14, measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    • For DTC B1B42:14, measure:

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  If all of the parking aid sensors recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), GO to  T5 If one or more (but not all) parking aid sensor(s) recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), INSTALL a new sensor(s) for the one(s) in question. REFER to: Front Parking Aid Sensor .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  5. T5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, Refer to BCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
