Pinpoint Test AY : The Hill Start Assist Chime Is Inoperative

  1. AY1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver safety belt.

    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  AY2
    No  Refer to IPC HARDWARE TESTING .

  2. AY2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Check for recorded IPC Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the continuous self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  AY3

  3. AY3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Check for recorded BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .
    No  DIAGNOSE the hill start assist system. Refer to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
