Selective Catalytic Reduction System Catalyst: Removal

NOTE: Do not use silicone based sprays or lubricants on any components installed onto or around the diesel exhaust system or intake air distribution and filtering system. Silicone reacts with the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) sensors and may cause permanent damage to the NOx sensors.
NOTE: The selective catalytic reduction system catalyst has a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) injector that adds DEF to the selective catalytic reduction system catalyst which helps clean the exhaust system emissions.
NOTE: If the selective catalytic reduction system catalyst is not being replaced, the diesel exhaust fluid injector electrical connector and pressure line connector, the exhaust gas temperature sensor and the NOX sensor do not need to be removed from the selective catalytic reduction system catalyst. Disconnecting the electrical connectors and the diesel exhaust fluid injector pressure line connector is still necessary.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
