Airbag Secondary Warning (Base IPC Only)

The airbag warning chime warns the airbag warning indicator is inoperative. If the IPC detects a fault in the airbag warning indicator when a SRS fault condition exists and the RCM has sent the IPC the airbag indicator request, the airbag warning chime sounds and the message center displays a warning message.

Belt-Minder® Feature

NOTE: Whenever the vehicle is operated using MyKey®, the IPC enables the Belt-Minder®.

The Belt-Minder® is configurable on and off for the driver seating position. Refer to: Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating .

The Belt-Minder® feature supplements the current safety belt warning function and is enabled after the current safety belt warning is complete by reminding the driver that the driver or front passenger safety belt is unbuckled. The Belt-Minder® intermittently sounds a chime and simultaneously illuminates the safety belt warning indicator in the IPC. The Belt-Minder® begins once the current safety belt warning has ended and the vehicle speed has exceeded 9.7 km/h (6 mph) with the driver or passenger front safety belt unbuckled. While activated, the Belt-Minder® chime provides a series of 6 chimes/safety belt warning indicator flash sequences, which consist of a 1 second chime tone and safety belt warning indicator on/off state.

If the vehicle speed drops below 4.8 km/h (3 mph) once the Belt-Minder® chime has activated, the chime turns off and the safety belt warning indicator remains on. When the vehicle speed exceeds 9.7 km/h (6 mph) again, the Belt-Minder® chime resumes.

The IPC controls the Belt-Minder® and receives the vehicle speed and safety belt status messages from the BCM. The BCM receives the vehicle speed message from the ABS module and the safety belt status message from the RCM.

When MyKey® is in use, the driver cannot configure the Belt-Minder® off. Once the Belt-Minder® is activated, the Belt-Minder® continues to chime periodically (does not time out after 5 minutes) and the audio system is muted (except base AM/ FM audio system) until the driver safety belt is fastened. When in tollbooth mode, the Belt-Minder® is delayed for 60 seconds with an administrator key and 10 seconds with a MyKey®.

Door Ajar Warning

The door ajar warning chime warns that a door is ajar. The IPC receives the door ajar and hood ajar status from the BCM over the MS-CAN. When a door or hood becomes ajar while the ignition is in RUN with vehicle speed greater than 3 km/h (1.9 mph), the IPC turns on the appropriate door ajar warning message and sounds a repetitive chime until the door or hood is closed.

Headlamps On Warning

The headlamps on warning chime warns that the headlamps are on when the driver door is ajar and the key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder. The IPC receives the position light indication message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The headlamps on warning chime sounds if the driver door is ajar, the headlamp switch is in the PARK or HEADLAMP position and the ignition is OFF. The headlamps on chime sounds a repetitive chime tone.

Information Warning

The information warning chime feature draws the driver's attention to the message center display to view new warning messages. The information warning chime is an internal function of the IPC and sounds a chime based on messages received and used to control the warning messages.

Key-In-Ignition Warning

The key-in-ignition warning chime warns that the key is still in the ignition lock cylinder when the driver door is ajar. The IPC receives the power mode status message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The key-in-ignition warning chime sounds when the driver door is ajar, the key is in the ignition lock cylinder.

PRNDL Not-In-Park Warning

The IPC provides a PRNDL not in park warning chime that sounds along with the transmission not in park message center message center display to inform the driver the vehicle is not in PARK (P). The IPC requires the transmission gear display mode, brake pedal applied, driver door ajar status, ignition power mode and vehicle speed to control the PRNDL not in park warning chime messages to control the PRNDL not-in-park chime. The IPC receives all inputs from the BCM over the MS-CAN.

The BCM receives the transmission gear display mode messaged input from the TCM and the brake pedal applied and vehicle speed messaged inputs from the PCM over the HS-CAN.

Parking Brake Warning

NOTE: The parking brake warning chime only sounds when the vehicle is in motion.

The parking brake warning chime warns that the parking brake is engaged when the vehicle is in motion. The parking brake warning chime sounds if the ignition is in RUN, the parking brake is engaged, and the vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h (6.2 mph). The parking brake warning chime stops sounding and resets if the parking brake is released, the ignition is not in the RUN mode or the vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h (6.2 mph) and after the IPC first illuminates the brake warning indicator and displays the parking brake warning message. The IPC receives the parking brake warning request from the BCM over the MS-CAN.

Safety Belt Warning

The safety belt warning chime warns that the safety belt is not fastened. The safety belt warning chime sounds a repetitive chime tone for 6 seconds when the driver safety belt is not fastened and the ignition is transitioned from OFF or ACC to ON or START. The safety belt warning chime stops sounding when the safety belt is fastened, when the ignition is transitioned from ON or START to OFF or ACC, or when the chime has sounded for 6 seconds. The IPC receives the safety belt status and ignition power mode messages from the BCM over the MS-CAN.

Turn Signal On Chime Tone

The IPC provides a repetitive tick-tock along with visual RH/ LH turn indicator to inform the driver the turn signal or hazard lamp function is on. The IPC receives the turn indicator command from the BCM over the MS-CAN.
