Message Center Messages

Airbag Malfunction

The IPC provides a display to indicate an internal airbag indication failure. If the IPC detects a failure in the airbag warning indicator after receiving the airbag indicator request from the RCM through the BCM, the message center displays the airbag malfunction warning message and sounds a warning chime.

Alarm System

The IPC provides displays that indicate a PATS key read failure or PATS failure. The IPC receives the PATS indication message from the BCM over the MS-CAN.

Brake System

The IPC provides brake system displays for low brake fluid level, parking brake applied and ABS concerns that display along with the brake warning indicator operation.

When the parking brake is applied, the BCM sends the parking brake warning indicator request message to the IPC over the MS-CAN to illuminate the brake warning indicator. Once the parking brake warning indicator request message has been received and the brake warning indicator illuminated with the vehicle in motion, the parking brake warning message is displayed. If the condition is not corrected, the IPC sounds the parking brake warning chime along with the brake warning indicator and the parking brake message center message display.

When a low brake fluid level condition exists, the BCM sends the brake fluid level warning message to the IPC over the MS-CAN to illuminate the brake warning indicator and turn on the brake fluid level low message in the message center.

When an ABS concern exists, the ABS module sends the brake (red) warning indicator request message to the BCM over the HS-CAN. The BCM in turn sends the brake warning request message to the IPC over the MS-CAN to illuminate the ABS warning indictor, brake warning indicator and to turn on the traction control off message in the message center.

Charging System

The IPC provides message center displays indicating the status of the charging system. The IPC receives the power system status message from the BCM over the MS-CAN to display the over-voltage and low battery voltage message center warnings.

Check Fuel Fill Inlet

The IPC provides a message to check the fuel fill inlet when the PCM detects a large evaporative fuel system leak following a vehicle fueling event. The IPC receives the fuel fill inlet message request from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the fuel fill inlet message request from the PCM over the HS-CAN.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (Diesel Only)

The IPC provides messages related to the diesel exhaust fluid level, quality, range, system faults and potential engine performance concerns. The IPC receives the diesel exhaust fluid warnings messages from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the diesel exhaust fluid warning messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN.

Diesel Particulate Filter (Regeneration) (Diesel Only)

The message center displays messages for the diesel particulate filter status and the regeneration status. The IPC receives the diesel particulate filter soot overload and diesel particulate filter display messages from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the diesel particulate filter soot overload and diesel particulate filter display messages from the PCM over the HS-CAN.

Door Ajar Indication

The IPC provides message center displays to indicate the status of the doors and hood. The BCM monitors each of the ajar inputs and sends a door status message to the IPC over the MS-CAN to display specific door ajar warning messages. When the vehicle is moving and a door ajar message is active, the IPC turns the information indicator red.

Engine Oil Service

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate an engine oil change is due. The IPC receives the engine service indication message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the engine service indication message from the PCM over the HS-CAN to display the engine oil change due message.

To reset the engine oil change minder, perform the following:

Engine Over-Temperature

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the engine is over-temperature. The IPC receives the engine coolant temperature message from the BCM over the MS-CAN to move the temperature gauge to full hot and display the engine over-temperature message center warning. The BCM receives the engine coolant temperature message from the PCM over the HS-CAN.

Engine Service

The IPC provides engine service wrench displays to indicate a transmission malfunction, fuel cutoff system malfunction and an engine oil change is due. The IPC receives the engine service indication message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the engine service indication message from the PCM over the HS-CAN to turn on the appropriate engine service wrench message. When a specific engine service display message is active, the IPC turns the information indicator amber.

Exterior Lighting Bulb Failure

The IPC provides message center displays to indicate the status of exterior lighting bulbs. The BCM monitors the status of the exterior lighting bulbs and sends a bulb failure message to the IPC over the MS-CAN.

Hill Start Assist System

The IPC provides a message center display to indicate the status of the hill start assist system. The IPC receives the hill start assist status message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the hill start assist status message from the ABS module over the HS-CAN.

Low Washer Fluid Level

The IPC receives the washer fluid level low message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. When the washer fluid level is low, the BCM sends the washer fluid level low message to the IPC to display the low washer fluid level message.

MyKey® Function

The IPC provides message center setup and message displays for the MyKey® feature.

Not In Park

The IPC provides a message to inform the driver they have left the vehicle out of park with the ignition OFF. The IPC receives the transmission message request from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the transmission message request from the TCM over the HS-CAN.

Parking Aid System

The IPC provides message center displays indicating the status of the parking aid system. The IPC receives the parking aid active message from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the parking aid active message from the PAM over the HS-CAN.

Stability-Traction Control System

The IPC provides a stability-traction control system message in the message center to indicate that the traction control is disabled. When certain conditions exist such as wheel speed sensor failure, control valve failures, communication failures or low battery voltage in the ABS, the ABS module sends the brake warning request message to the BCM over the HS-CAN. The BCM in turn sends the brake warning request message to the IPC over the MS-CAN to illuminate the ABS warning indicator, brake warning indicator, stability/traction control indicator (sliding car icon), stability/traction control disabled indicator (sliding car OFF icon) and turns on the traction control off message in the message center.

TPMS

The IPC provides message center displays to indicate the TPMS sensor training status or a malfunction in the TPMS. The IPC receives the tire pressure indication message from the BCM over the MS-CAN.

Transmission Malfunction

The IPC provides message center displays to indicate transmission malfunctions. The IPC receives the transmission message request from the BCM over the MS-CAN. The BCM receives the transmission message request from the PCM over the HS-CAN.

Water In Fuel (Diesel Only)

When equipped with a diesel engine, the message center displays a water in fuel message when the PCM detects water in fuel. The BCM receives the water in fuel indicator message from the PCM over the HS-CAN. The IPC receives the water in fuel indicator message from the BCM over the MS-CAN.
