Pinpoint Test P : U0300:00

  1. P1 CHECK THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE OR SASM (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE) AND BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the ABS module or SASM self-test.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the BCM self-test.

    Are there any communication or module internal failure Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present in either of the modules? 

    Yes  For ABS module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), GO to the DTC Chart: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . For SASM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), GO to DTC Chart: Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM) . For BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .
    No  If DTC U0300:00 is present in the ABS module, GO to  P2 If DTC U0300:00 is present in the SASM, GO to  P3
  2. P2 PROGRAM THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, program the ABS module using as-built data.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the ABS module self-test.

    Is DTC U0300:00 present in the ABS module? 

    Yes  GO to  P4
    No  The concern was caused by an incomplete or improperly programmed ABS module, the repair is complete.
  3. P3 RECHECK THE SASM (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the SASM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the SASM self-test.

    Is DTC U0300:00 present in the SASM? 

    Yes  GO to  P4
    No  The concern was caused by the installation of a new BCM. The repair is complete.
  4. P4 PROGRAM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, program the BCM using as-built data.

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the ABS module or SASM self-test.

    Is DTC U0300:00 present in the ABS module or SASM? 

    Yes  If DTC U0300:00 is present in the ABS module, GO to  P5 If DTC U0300:00 is present in the SASM, GO to  P6
    No  The concern was caused by a incomplete or improperly programmed BCM, the repair is complete.
  5. P5 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect ABS module C135 .

    • Using a good light source, inspect all disconnected electrical connectors for the following:

      • corrosion - install new connector or terminal and clean the module pins
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
      • spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary

    • Connect ABS module C135 . Make sure it seats and latches correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module and HCU. REFER to: Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  6. P6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SASM (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect the SASM electrical connectors.

    • Using a good light source, inspect all disconnected electrical connectors for the following:

      • corrosion - install new connector or terminal and clean the module pins
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
      • spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary

    • Connect the SASM electrical connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new SASM. REFER to: Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
