Condenser - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS): Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging .
  3. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
    NOTE: Install new O-ring seals and gasket seals.

    1. Remove the A/C compressor outlet line nut, the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly nut and disconnect the fittings.

      Torque: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

    2. Remove the condenser mounting bracket bolt.

      Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  4. Remove the retainers and the engine undershield

  5. Remove the retainers, the bolts and the radiator undershield.

  6. Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to: Front Bumper Cover .
  7. Remove the radiator side air deflectors pin-type retainers.

    1. Remove the radiator side air deflector retainers.
    2. Release the tabs and remove the radiator side air deflectors.

  8. Loosely install the cable ties on both sides. Use the General Equipment: Cable Ties

  9. NOTE: During installation, make sure the LH and RH radiator mount grommets are properly in place.

    1. Remove the front lower crossmember bracket bolts.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    2. Remove the bolts and the front lower crossmember.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    • Remove the grommets.

  10. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    1. NOTE: The lower foam seal may not need to be cut.

      Cut the foam seals. Use the General Equipment: Knife

    2. Release the tabs and lift the condenser up off the hooks.
    3. Remove the condenser.
