Lifting Bracket

Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
  1. Install the special tool, remove the 6 bolts and the flexplate. Discard the bolts. Use Special Service Tool: 303-103 (T74P-6375-A) Holding Tool, Flywheel.

  2. Install the engine mounting stand. Install the General Equipment: Mounting Stand

  3. Remove the floor crane. Remove Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1819E 2, 200# Floor Crane, Fold Away. Remove the General Equipment: Lifting Bracket

  4. Remove the bolts and the accessory drive belt tensioner.

  5. Remove the bolt and the idler pulley.

  6. Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.

  7. Remove the crankcase vent tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  8. Disconnect the crankshaft sensor electrical connector and the wire retainer.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector and wire retainers from the intake manifold.

  11. Disconnect the VCT oil control solenoid electrical connector.

  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coil-on-plugs and the CMP sensor electrical connector.

  13. Position out the boot and disconnect the CHT sensor electrical connector.

  14. NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.

    Remove the ignition coil-on-plug retaining bolts and the ignition coil-on-plugs.

  15. Remove the oil level indicator.

  16. Disconnect the retainer and position the electrical connector aside.

  17. Disconnect the wiring harness retainers from the fuel rail and disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

  19. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  21. Remove the nuts and position aside the bracket.

  25. Remove the nut and the radio capacitor.

  28. Remove and discard the fuel injector O-ring seals and the fuel injector clips.

  29. Remove the bolts and position out the intake manifold.

  30. NOTE: If the engine is repaired or replaced because of upper engine failure, typically including valve or piston damage, check the intake manifold for metal debris. If metal debris is found, install a new intake manifold. Failure to follow these instructions can result in engine damage.

    Squeeze the 2 crankcase vent oil separator tube tabs and disconnect the tube from the intake manifold.

  31. Remove the EGR tube.

  32. Disconnect the clamps and remove the water by pass hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  33. NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.

    Remove the bolt and the knock sensor.
