Pinpoint Test E : The Odometer Is Inoperative

  1. E1 CHECK FOR CORRUPTED NON-VOLATILE MEMORY (NVM)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Observe the message center display area.

    Does the odometer display ERROR? 

    Yes  Refer to IPC Hardware Testing .
    No  GO to  E2

  2. E2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  E3

  3. E3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .
    No  DIAGNOSE any ABS module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Refer to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
