Inner Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot: Installation

  1. Using boot clamp pliers, install the small CV boot clamp and the inner CV joint boot. Use Special Service Tool: 205-343 (T95P-3514-A) Installer, Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp.

  2. NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.

    Using a vise, install the CV joint tripod. Use the General Equipment: Vise

  3. NOTE: The bearings maybe packaged with shipping caps. Be careful when removing the shipping caps. The outer bearing has the potential to slide off of the inner bearing exposing the bearing needles to fall out. If all of the needle bearings are not in the tripod bearing when assembled damage may occur.

    Install the new CV joint tripod circlip and the CV joint tripod bearings by rolling the rollers onto the tripod.

    1. Install the grease sachet evenly in the CV joint boot and the CV joint housing.

      Material: Motorcraft ® Constant Velocity Joint Grease / XG-5 (WSS-M1C258-A1)

    2. Position the CV joint boot and the CV joint housing.

    1. Using a flat headed screw driver to allow air to escape. Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver
    2. Position the CV joint housing inside the CV joint boot.
    3. Using a flat headed screw driver to allow air to escape.
    4. Adjust the CV joint housing inside the CV joint boot. Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver

  4. Using boot clamp pliers, install the large CV boot clamp. Use Special Service Tool: 205-343 (T95P-3514-A) Installer, Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp.

  5. Install the front halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH . Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH .
