Feeler Gauge

Adjustment

Follow the brake and clutch systems health and safety precautions. Refer to: Brake and Clutch Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
Position aside the parking brake lever grip and remove the parking brake lever boot.

1. Remove the parking brake cable adjustment nut lock nut.
2. Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
1. Insert a 0.7 mm feeler gauge between the parking brake lever and the brake caliper abutment, on both sides. Use the General Equipment: Feeler Gauge
2. With the aid of another technician, tighten the parking brake cable adjustment nut until movement is observed on one of the parking brake levers.
3. Remove the feeler gauges.

1. Make sure the parking brake control is in the released position.
2. Install the parking brake cable adjustment nut lock nut.
  Torque: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

Install the parking brake lever boot and position the parking brake lever grip.
