Brake Master Cylinder: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
  2. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.
    NOTE: Make sure that new nuts are installed.

    • Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.

    • Release the couplings and disconnect the remote fluid reservoir tube and, if equipped, the clutch master cylinder tube.

    • Disconnect the brake tube fittings.

    • Remove the nuts and the brake master cylinder. Discard the nuts.

      Torque:

      1: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

      2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  3. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new master cylinder.

    Remove the brake fluid reservoir. Refer to: Brake Fluid Reservoir .
