Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The front (if equipped) and rear parking aid system relies on several inputs from other modules on the HS-CAN and MS-CAN. The PAM monitors the front (if equipped) and rear parking aid sensors and their associated circuits. When the selector lever is in reverse, the PAM calculates the distance to objects detected by the rear parking aid sensors and reports this distance to the driver via a variable rate low pitched audio tone. If the vehicle is equipped with front parking aid, when the vehicle speed is less than 12 kmh (7.5 mph) and the selector lever is not in park or neutral position, the PAM calculates the distance to objects detected by the front parking aid sensors and reports this distance to the driver via a variable rate high pitched audio tone. If a trailer is connected to the vehicle, the rear parking aid system is disabled and the front (if equipped) remains active.

NOTE: If a MyKey ® restricted key is in use, the parking aid system cannot be deactivated.
NOTE: Before disconnecting the PAM or any of the parking aid sensors, verify the connectors are properly seated and latched.
