Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG): Removal

  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS) .
    • Loosen the clamp and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.

  2. NOTE: Use suitable paper to absorb any escaping fluid.

    1. Remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube bolt. Loosen the nut and remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube.
    2. Remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube bolt. Loosen the nut and remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube.

  3. NOTE: Use suitable paper to absorb any escaping fluid.

    1. Loosen the nut and remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler outlet tube.
    2. Loosen the nut and remove the transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler inlet tube.

  4. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  5. If equipped.

    1. Remove the retainers and the shield reinforcement.
    2. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

  6. Remove the retainers and position aside the LH fender splash shield.

  7. Remove the bolt and the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube.

  8. NOTE: Make sure that no component falls off during removal.

    Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet tube band seal and backing ring.

  9. Lower the vehicle. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  10. Remove the bolt and the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube.

  11. NOTE: Make sure that no component falls off during removal.

    Remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet tube band seal and backing ring.
