Parking Brake Cable: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Position aside the parking brake lever grip and remove the parking brake lever boot.

    1. Remove the parking brake cable adjustment nut lock nut.
    2. Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut.

  2. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  3. Remove the nuts, separate the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter and remove the gasket.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

  4. If equipped. Remove the bolts and the underbody floor bracket.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  5. Detach the exhaust isolator.

    1. Remove the nuts and lower the forward exhaust heat shield.
    2. Remove the rearward exhaust heat shield nuts.
    3. Slide the rearward exhaust heat shield back and remove the rearward exhaust heat shield.

    Remove the nuts and position the fuel tank heat shield aside.

  8. NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.

    1. Rotate the equalizer and disconnect the front cable and equalizer assembly.
    2. Push inward on the 2 tabs and detach the LH and RH cables from the bracket.

  9. On both sides.

    1. Rotate the parking brake cable lever.
    2. Push outwards and disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper lever.
    3. Push inwards on the tab, detach the parking brake cable from the brake caliper bracket.

  10. Detach the parking brake cable retainers. Remove the bracket bolts, nuts and the parking brake cable.
