Front Halfshaft LH: Installation

  1. Inspect the outer CV housing at the shown locations.

  2. Inspect the inner CV housing at the shown locations.

  3. NOTE: Make sure that new component is installed.
    NOTE: Ensure that the retaining circlip maximum diameter does not exceed 28.50 mm after installation.

  4. NOTE: Make sure a new component is installed.

    Install a new halfshaft seal. Refer to: Halfshaft Seal LH .

  5. NOTE: Do not fully install shaft at this time.

    Insert the splines of the halfshaft through the halfshaft seal. Remove the seal protector.

  6. NOTE: Make sure that the halfshaft retaining clip is completely seated.

  7. NOTE: Verify correct installation by pulling the inner constant velocity joint.

  8. NOTE: Make sure that a new component is installed.

    Install the new halfshaft washer.

  9. Pull the halfshaft into the front wheel bearing and wheel hub. Use Special Service Tool: 204-161 (T97P-1175-A) Installer, Halfshaft.

  10. Position the ball joint into the wheel knuckle and install the new ball joint pinch bolt and nut.

    Torque: 76 lb.ft (103 Nm)

  11. Position the brake hose and install the brake hose bracket bolt.

    Torque: 159 lb.in (18 Nm)

  12. NOTE: Do not tighten the front wheel hub nut with the vehicle on the ground. The nut must be tightened to specification before the vehicle is lowered onto the wheels. Wheel bearing damage will occur if the wheel bearing is loaded with the weight of the vehicle applied.
    NOTE: Install and tighten the new wheel hub nut to specification in a continuous rotation. Always install a new wheel hub nut after loosening or when not tightened to specification in a continuous rotation or damage to the components may occur.
    NOTE: Apply the brake to keep the halfshaft from rotating.

    While an assistant applies the brake, install a new wheel hub nut.

    Torque: 148 lb.ft (200 Nm)
