- Connect a vacuum gauge to the vacuum pump.
-
NOTE: To avoid damaging the vacuum pump, the diagnostic scan tool activates the pump for only 3-4 seconds.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, toggle the ABS module vacuum pump (VAC_PMP) active command ON.
- Monitor the vacuum gauge while the pump is operating.
Does the vacuum gauge display greater than 300 mBar (8.85 In-Hg)?
Yes TOGGLE the ABS module VAC_PMP active command OFF.GO to V9 No GO to V5 - V5 CHECK THE VACUUM PUMP GROUND
-
NOTE: To avoid damaging the vacuum pump, the diagnostic scan tool activates the pump for only 3-4 seconds.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, toggle the ABS module VAC_PMP active command ON.
- While the vacuum pump is active, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead Vacuum Pump Ground Eyelet - G101 Ground
Is the voltage less than 1 volt?
Yes TOGGLE the ABS module VAC_PMP active command OFF.GO to V7 No GO to V6 -
- V6 CHECK THE VACUUM PUMP GROUND EYELET
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the bolt retaining the vacuum pump ground eyelet to the vehicle. REFER to Vehicle Dynamic Systems for schematic and connector information.
- Clean the vehicle mating surface and the ground eyelets.
- Position the ground eyelets and install the bolt.
- Ignition ON.
-
NOTE: To avoid damaging the vacuum pump, the diagnostic scan tool activates the pump for only 3-4 seconds.
Yes TOGGLE the ABS module VAC_PMP active command OFF. The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was most likely caused by a loose or dirty ground. If you were directed to this pinpoint test because SOBDMC DTC C0021:00 is present along with ABS module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) C0021:XX and C1015:64,
