High-Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Unit: Installation

NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths.

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

Clean the sealing surfaces.

Material: Motorcraft ® Metal Surface Prep Wipes / ZC-31-B

NOTE: Sealer should be squeezed out of the joint where it interfaces with the cam cover. The components must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the sealant.

Apply 3 mm thick sealant to the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit as shown.

Material: Motorcraft ® Gasket Maker / TA-16 (WSK-M2G348-A5)

3.

Install the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit and the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts in the following 2 stages.
Torque:

Stage 1: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)

Stage 2: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Install the valve cover. Refer to: Valve Cover .
