Pinpoint Test B : A Single Power Window Is Inoperative - RF, Expedition
NOTE:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- B1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE PASSENGER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Disconnect: RF Window Control Switch C624.
- Ignition ON.

NOTE: Set the window lock-out switch to the UNLOCK position.
Measure the voltage between RF window control switch C624-3 , circuit CPW30 (GY/YE), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to B2. No REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. - B2 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW13 (BN/YE) AND CPW12 (GN/OG) FOR CONTINUITY TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Measure the resistance between ground and RF window control switch C624-1 , circuit CPW13 (BN/YE), harness side and ground; and between C624-6 , circuit CPW12 (GN/OG), harness side and ground.
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to B4. No GO to B3. - B3 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW13 (BN/YE) AND CPW12 (GN/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504A.
- Measure the resistance between master window control switch C504A-4 , circuit CPW13 (BN/YE), harness side and RF window control switch C624-1 , circuit CPW13 (BN/YE), harness side.
- Measure the resistance between master window control switch C504A-8 , circuit CPW12 (GN/OG), harness side and RF window control switch C624-6 , circuit CPW12 (GN/OG), harness side.
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new master window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch . TEST the system for normal operation. No REPAIR the affected circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. - B4 CHECK THE RF POWER WINDOW SWITCH
- Connect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Ignition ON.
- To operate the window in the upward direction, connect a fused jumper wire between RF window control switch C624-1 , circuit CPW13 (BN/YE), harness side and C624-2 , circuit CPW19 (VT), harness side; and a second fused jumper wire between RF window control switch C624-3 , circuit CPW30 (GY/YE), harness side and C624-5 , circuit CPW20 (WH/OG), harness side.
- To operate the window in the downward direction, connect a fused jumper wire between RF window control switch C624-6 , circuit CPW12 (GN/OG), harness side and C624-5 , circuit CPW20 (WH/OG), harness side; and a second fused jumper wire between RF window control switch C624-3 , circuit CPW30 (GY/YE), harness side and C624-2 , circuit CPW19 (VT), harness side.
Does the window operate correctly?
Yes REMOVE the fused jumper wires. INSTALL a new RF window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch . TEST the system for normal operation. No REMOVE the fused jumper wires. GO to B5. - B5 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW19 (VT) AND CPW20 (WH/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RF Window Motor C608.
- Measure the resistance between RF window control switch C624-2 , circuit CPW19 (VT), harness side, and RF window motor C608-1 , circuit CPW19 (VT), harness side.
- Measure the resistance between RF window control switch C624-5 , circuit CPW20 (WH/OG), harness side and RF window motor C608-2 , circuit CPW20 (WH/OG), harness side.
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new RF window regulator motor. REFER to Window Regulator Motor - Front Door . TEST the system for normal operation. No REPAIR the affected circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
