Pinpoint Test R : The Heated Seats Are Inoperative - Rear

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when taking measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

  1. R1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE REAR HEATED SEAT MODULE

    • Disconnect: Rear Heated Seat Module C3054B.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between:
      • rear heated seat module C3054B-2 , circuit CBP34 (VT/BN), harness side and ground.
      • rear heated seat module C3054B-1 , circuit SBB73 (RD), harness side and ground.

    Are the voltages greater than 11 volts? 

    Yes  GO to  R2.
    No  VERIFY BJB fuses 73 (20A) and BCM 34 (10A) are OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit(s). If not OK, REFER to the OEM Electrical Wiring Diagram Introduction to identify possible causes of the circuit short.

  2. R2 CHECK THE REAR HEATED SEAT MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Measure the resistance between rear heated seat module C3054B-5 , circuit GD143 (BK/VT), harness side and ground.

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  R3.
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  3. R3 CHECK THE REAR HEATED SEAT SWITCH OUTPUT

    • Disconnect: Rear Heated Seat Module C3054A.
    • Measure the resistance between rear heated seat module C3054A-2 , circuit CHS46 (YE/GN), harness side and ground while pressing and releasing the LH rear heated seat switch.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms when the heated seat switch is pressed and greater than 10, 000 ohms when the heated seat switch is released? 

    Yes  GO to  R5.
    No  GO to  R4.

  4. R4 CHECK THE REAR HEATED SEAT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect: RHVAC Module C3198.
    • Measure the resistance between RHVAC module C3198-5 , circuit GD143 (BK/VT), harness side and ground.

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new RHVAC module. REFER to Auxiliary Climate Control .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  5. R5 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between rear heated seat module C3054A-12 , circuit RHS41 (GN/BN), harness side and left rear heated seat C3054A-3 , circuit VHS42 (GN), harness side.

    Is the resistance less than 300, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  R6.
    No  REPAIR circuit RHS41 (GN/BN) for an open.

  6. R6 CHECK THE HEATER MATS GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between rear heated seat module C3054B-4 , circuit CHS39 (GN/BU), harness side and ground.

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new rear heated seat module. REFER to Heated Seat Module - Second Row .
    No  REPAIR circuit GD150 (BK/WH) for an open or excessive resistance.
