Image Display - Vehicles Equipped With An 8 in (203.2 mm) Touchscreen

NOTE: The liftgate must remain closed for correct operation of the rear camera system.

The rear parking aid camera image is displayed by the FDIM when reverse gear is selected.

To determine the gear selector position and enable the camera display, the APIM monitors the transmission gear position message, received from the PCM. The camera is on any time it receives voltage (when the ignition is ON), but a video signal is only generated under certian conditions. When reverse gear is selected, the camera continuously generates a video signal. When any gear except reverse is selected, the camera turns the video signal off when the vehicle speed reaches 16 km/h (10 mph), and turns the video signal on when vehicle speed falls below 8 km/h (5 mph). The video signal is sent from the camera to the APIM on shielded twisted pair wires. If the camera is not configured properly, some features may be inoperative.

Features 

The camera system has several features to assist the driver.

The following feature(s) can be turned on and off by the driver, accessed through the FDIM :

To turn the visual park aid alert and manual zoom on and off, the driver-generated requests originate at the FDIM, which is hardwired to the APIM. The requests are sent by the APIM to the BCM in the camera commands message. The BCM then sends the request to the camera via the LIN circuit. The requested features are then generated by the rear parking aid camera.

The video delay feature is controlled within the APIM.

The video camera retains the last known setting for the visual park aid alert when the ignition is turned off. The camera settings shown in the FDIM menus when the ignition is off may not reflect the actual current camera settings. Within 3 seconds of the ignition being turned on, the APIM requests the last known settings from the rear camera, then changes the camera menu selections that are displayed on the FDIM to the settings that are retrieved from the rear camera. If the visual park aid alert settings are changed in the FDIM when the ignition is off, the changes are not stored and the menus revert back to the last known settings that are stored in the camera after the ignition is turned on.
