Valve Cover: Removal

NOTE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, refer to Safety Warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Health And Safety Precautions .

  2. Remove the following items:

    1. Refer to: Air Cleaner Intake Pipe .
    2. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
    3. Refer to: Air Cleaner .

  3. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  9. NOTE: The VCTsolenoid seal should only be replaced if it is damaged.

    Use Special Service Tool: 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer., 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle.

  10. Clean the sealing surfaces.

    Material: Motorcraft ® Metal Surface Prep Wipes / ZC-31-B
