Catalytic Converter - Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE:
Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.Refer to: Jacking And Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the cowl panel.Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
- After assembly, fill and bleed the engine cooling system.Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling And Bleeding .
- Remove the front subframe.Refer to: Front Subframe .
- Disconnect the HO2S and the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors.
- Using hose clamps pliers, clamp the hoses.
- Disconnect the hoses.
- Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

NOTE: Do not excessively bend or twist the exhaust flexible pipe. Failure to follow these instructions may cause damage to the flexible pipe.
Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.
- Remove and discard the muffler and tailpipe nuts and support.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Discard the muffler and tailpipe gasket.
- Remove the catalytic converter bracket bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove and discard the catalytic converter nuts.
Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
- Remove and discard the catalytic converter gasket and studs.
Torque: 150 lb.in (17 Nm)
