Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

When the ignition transitions to RUN or START, the BCM activates the PATS transceiver to read the key in the ignition lock cylinder. If the BCM does not receive a PATS key code or if the code is invalid, the PATS prevents the motor from entering the ready to drive mode and applying torque.

BCM DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
B10D7:81 PATS Key: Invalid Serial Data Received Sets when the BCM reads a partial or corrupt PATS key read.
B10D7:94 PATS Key: Unexpected Operation Sets when the BCM receives no PATS key read. This DTC sets if a non- PATS key is used to turn the ignition on.
