Parking Brake Cable Adjustment

Adjustment 

• 1.
  
  Follow the brake and clutch systems health and safety precautions. Refer to: Brake and Clutch Systems Health and Safety Precautions .

• 2.
  
  Position aside the parking brake lever grip and remove the parking brake lever boot.

  • 1.
    
    Remove the parking brake cable adjustment nut lock nut.

  • 2.
    
    Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut.

  With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

• 5.
  
  
  NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.

  • 1.
    
    Insert a 0.7 mm feeler gauge between the parking brake lever and the brake caliper abutment, on both sides. Use the General Equipment: Feeler Gauge

  • 2.
    
    With the aid of another technician, tighten the parking brake cable adjustment nut until movement is observed on one of the parking brake levers.

  • 3.
    
    Remove the feeler gauges.

  • 1.
    
    Make sure the parking brake control is in the released position.

  • 2.
    
    Install the parking brake cable adjustment nut lock nut.

    Torque: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

  Install the parking brake lever boot and position the parking brake lever grip.
