Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Vehicles equipped with an EcoBoost engine have a camshaft driven vacuum pump to supply vacuum to the brake booster. All other engines use the vacuum generated by engine operation to supply vacuum to the brake booster. The ABS module uses a vacuum sensor to monitor the brake booster vacuum. The vacuum pump is expected to produce at least 600 mBar (18 In-Hg). A leak in a vacuum hose, brake booster or one of the seals on the brake booster or vacuum pump prevents the brake booster from achieving the required amount of vacuum. Damage or and internal failure prevents the vacuum pump or the engine from operating at peak capacity. 

PPT AH ABS MODULE DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
C1015:7A Vacuum Supply: Fluid Leak or Seal Failure Sets when the ABS module detects a decrease in brake booster vacuum without brake system activation.
C1015:7B Vacuum Supply: Low Fluid Level Sets when the ABS module detects the brake vacuum pump or engine is unable to produce the vacuum necessary for brake system operation.

Possible Causes 

  1. AH1: CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS 
    • Ignition ON, engine running.
    • Inspect the vacuum hose and each hose connection from the vacuum pump to the brake booster for leaks.
    • Are any vacuum leaks found? 
      Yes No
      REPAIR the vacuum leak or INSTALL new components as necessary. For vehicles with a Duratec engine, INSTALL a new brake booster. REFER to Power Brake Actuation - Brake Booster (Except Hybrid) . For vehicles with an EcoBoost engine, Go to  AH2.
  2. AH2: CHECK THE VACUUM PUMP OUTPUT
