Rear Bumper Cover: Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- 1.WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION (EXCEPT HYBRID) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .
- 2.
Remove the rear wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- 3.
On each side. Remove the inner wheel liner to rear bumper cover pin-type retainer and the bolts.Torque
: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
- 4.
Remove the lower rear bumper cover to the body screws.Torque
: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
- 5.
Remove the rear lamp assemblies. Refer to: Rear Lamp Assembly - 4-Door .
- 6.
On each side. Remove the pin-type retainer.
- 7.
On each side. Release the rear bumper cover from the rear bumper cover brackets and position the rear bumper cover aside.
- 8.
Disconnect the rear bumper harness electrical connector.
- 9.
Remove the rear bumper cover.
- 10.NOTE: On each side.
Inspect the bumper reinforcements for damage to the bumper cover tabs.
- 11.
If required. Remove the screws, release the tab and the remove the rear bumper cover side brackets.Torque
: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
