Pinpoint Test At : The Chimes Only Sounds From The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

  1. AT1 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .
    No  GO to  AT2
  2. AT2 PERFORM THE ACM (AUDIO FRONT CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the ACM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment Systems article.
    No  GO to  AT3
  3. AT3 PERFORM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment Systems article.
    No  GO to  AT4
  4. AT4 PERFORM THE DACMC (DIGITAL AUDIO CONTROL MODULE C) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the DACMC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment Systems article.
    No  If equipped with touchscreen audio system, GO to  AT6
    If not  equipped with the touchscreen audio system, GO to  AT5
  5. AT5 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO SYSTEM OPERATION

    • Operate the audio system in AM/ FM mode.

    Does the audio system operate correctly? 

    Yes  If not  equipped with the touchscreen audio system, GO to  AT6
    No  Diagnose the audio system. Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment Systems article.
  6. AT6 PERFORM THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the audio DSP module self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  For DTC B1045:13, GO to  AT7For DTC B10FD:13, GO to  AT12
    For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment Systems article.
    No  GO to  AT17
  7. AT7 CHECK THE LHR (LEFT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect Audio DSP Module C4452A .
    • Ignition ON.
    • Operate the audio system in AM/ FM mode.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is a fluctuating AC voltage present? 

    Yes  GO to  AT19
    No  GO to  AT8
  8. AT8 CHECK THE LHR (LEFT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is any voltage present? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit in question.
    No  GO to  AT9
  9. AT9 CHECK THE LHR (LEFT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  AT10
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  10. AT10 CHECK THE LHR (LEFT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR AN OPEN

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  AT11
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  11. AT11 CHECK THE LHR (LEFT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  AT17
    No  REPAIR the circuits.
  12. AT12 CHECK THE RHR (RIGHT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect Audio DSP Module C4452A .
    • Ignition ON.
    • Operate the audio system in AM/ FM mode.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is a fluctuating AC voltage present? 

    Yes  GO to  AT19
    No  GO to  AT13
  13. AT13 CHECK THE RHR (RIGHT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is any voltage present? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit in question.
    No  GO to  AT14
  14. AT14 CHECK THE RHR (RIGHT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  AT15
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  15. AT15 CHECK THE RHR (RIGHT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR AN OPEN

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  AT16
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  16. AT16 CHECK THE RHR (RIGHT-HAND REAR) AUDIO SIGNAL TO THE AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  AT17
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  17. AT17 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (AUDIO FRONT CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect all the ACM connectors.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect the ACM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new ACM. Refer to the appropriate Information and Entertainment Systems article.TEST the system for normal operation. If the chimes still do not sound through the audio system, GO to  AT18
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  18. AT18 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect all IPC connector.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect theIPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new IPC. Refer to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  19. AT19 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO DSP (AUDIO DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE) MODULE OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect all the audio DSP module connectors.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect the audio DSP module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new audio DSP module. Refer to: Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Module .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
