Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor: Removal

RH (right-hand) Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensors 

  1. 1.

    Remove the RH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .

  1. 2.

    • Disconnect the intake CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the retainer and the CMP sensor.

      Material: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W20-QSP (WSS-M2C945-A)

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    • Disconnect the exhaust CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the retainer and the CMP sensor.

      Material: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W20-QSP (WSS-M2C945-A)

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

LH (left-hand) Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensors 

  1. 3.

    Remove the LH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .

  1. 4.

    • Disconnect the intake CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the retainer and the CMP sensor.

      Material: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W20-QSP (WSS-M2C945-A)

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

    • Position aside the radio ignition interference capacitor.
    • Disconnect the exhaust CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the retainer and the CMP sensor.

      Material: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W20-QSP (WSS-M2C945-A)

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
