Removal And Installation: Thermostat: Removal

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- 1.
Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- 2.NOTE: Cover the accessory drive belt to prevent coolant contamination of the belt.
Completely cover the accessory drive belt with waterproof plastic.
- 3.NOTE: During installation, make sure the coolant outlet connection is fully seated on the thermostat housing before tightening the bolts.
Remove the bolts and detach the coolant inlet connector.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- 4.NOTE: During installation verify the thermostat vent hole is at the 12 o'clock position.
Remove the O-ring seal and the thermostat.
