Parking Brake Control: Removal

1.

Release the parking brake cable tension. Refer to: Parking Brake Cable Tension Release .

2.

NOTE: The brake pedal and bracket assembly and the accelerator pedal must be removed to prevent damage when positioning the carpet and foam support aside
- Remove the brake pedal and bracket assembly and the accelerator pedal. Refer to: Brake Pedal and Bracket . Refer to: Accelerator Pedal .

3.

Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the cable union.

Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector.

5.

Remove the 2 bolts, loosen the remaining bolt 2 full turns and position the parking brake aside.
Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

6.

Detach the 7 retainer clips and remove the scuff plate trim panel.

Detach the 3 retainer clips and remove the cowl side trim panel.

NOTE: Do not allow the foam support (located below the carpet) to separate from the carpet insulation or damage to the foam support and/or carpet insulation may occur.

Carefully position the carpet and foam support back to access the front cable conduit grommet.

9.

Detach the front cable conduit grommet from the floor and remove the front parking brake cable and parking brake control as an assembly.
