Component Description
Parking Aid Sensors
The parking aid sensors are wide beam ultrasonic sensors. The sensors continuously send out ultrasonic signals to detect objects and communicate the information back to the PAM.
PAM
The PAM supplies voltage and ground to and monitors the parking aid sensors. When an object is detected by the sensors and the parking aid system is active, the PAM calculates and reports (via audio tones) the distance between the front or rear bumper of the vehicle and an object. The PAM generates the audio warning tones through hardwired front (if equipped) and rear parking aid speakers.
Parking Aid Disable Switch
The parking aid disable switch is a normally open, momentary contact switch that provides a ground to the PAM when pressed. The switch incorporates a LED that illuminates when the parking aid system is disabled.
