Pinpoint Test C : The Visual Park Aid Alert Is Inoperative: Notes

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

When reverse gear is selected and an object is detected by the rear parking aid system, the PAM sends the distance to object data through the HS-CAN and MS-CAN to the IPMB. Based on this message from the PAM, the IPMB generates visual highlights over the video image in the zone where an object has been detected.

Possible Sources 

• Parking aid camera
• PAM concern
• IPMB concern

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-Checks 

• If the rear video camera is not configured after replacement, some video functions will be inoperative. Turn the ignition on for 5 minutes to allow the camera/IPMB calibration to complete.
• For vehicles equipped with a touchscreen centerstack infotainment display, verify that the parking aid alert is enabled in settings menu.
