Coolant Pump: Removal

1.

Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling .

2.

Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: AIR CLEANER OUTLET PIPE - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS).

3.

Loosen the coolant pump pulley bolts.

4.

Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to: ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT/5.0L Ti-VCT V8 (308kW/418PS).

NOTE: Cover the A/C compressor belt to prevent coolant contamination of the belt.

Completely cover the A/C compressor belt with waterproof plastic.

6.

Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to: Thermostat Housing .

7.

Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.

- Disconnect the heater outlet hose from the heater outlet tube.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the lower degas bottle hose from the heater outlet tube.
  Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

9.
- Remove the bolts and the coolant pump.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

- Remove the bolt and the heater outlet tube.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
