Removal And Installation: Turbocharger: Removal

• 1.
  
  With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

• 2.
  
  Remove the A/C Compressor Belt. Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING (A C) COMPRESSOR BELT - 2.3L EcoBoost (231kW/314PS).

• 3.
  
  Disconnect the TC bypass valve electrical connector and then detach the wire harness retainers.

• 4.
  
  Loosen the TC outlet pipe clamps and then remove the TC outlet pipe.

  Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connectors and the wire harness retainers.

  Remove the bolts, then position and support the A/C compressor out of the way.

  Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  Drain the cooling system. Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING .

NOTE: Clean all exhaust connections before reassembly.
• 9.
  Remove the catalytic converter flange nuts and the catalytic converter bracket bolts.

  Remove and discard the TC flange gasket.

  Disconnect the TC control hoses.

  Remove the TC coolant tube bolts, disconnect the TC coolant tube hose and then remove the TC coolant tubes.

  Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  Remove and discard the TC coolant tube sealing washers. Inspect and replace the TC coolant tube O-ring seals as needed.

  Remove the TC oil feed tube retaining bolts and then remove the TC oil feed tube.

  Remove and discard the TC oil feed tube O-ring seal and the TC oil feed tube bolt sealing washers.

  Remove and discard the TC oil filter.

  Remove the TC oil drain tube bolts and then remove the TC oil drain tube.

  Remove and discard the upper TC mounting nuts, remove the lower TC heat shield retaining bolt and then remove the TC heat shield.

  Remove and discard the lower TC mounting nuts, then remove the TC.

  Remove and discard the TC gasket.
