Fuel Tank: Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, refer to Safety Warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining .
- Remove the retainers and the splash shield.
- Remove the retainers and the air deflector.
- Remove the retainers and the heat shield.
- Remove the exhaust. Refer to: Muffler and Tailpipe .
- Remove the screws, pushpin and the air deflector.
Torque: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
- Remove the screw, nut and the aero shield.
Torque: 13 lb.in (1.5 Nm)
- Disconnect the electrical connector and position the harness aside.
- Remove the retainers and the deflector.

- Pinch off the fuel filler pipe hose.
- Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose from the fuel filler pipe.
- Disconnect the Fuel Feed Line and Vapor Tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling . Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .
- Remove the fuel tank strap bolts. Use the General Equipment: Powertrain Jack Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)
Torque
1: 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

- Lower the fuel tank far enough to disconnect the electrical connector and vapor lines. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Remove the fuel tank.
