Pinpoint Test E : The Roof Opening Panel Does Not Open Or Close
- E1 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Attempt to operate the roof opening panel to the vent position.
Does the roof opening panel operate to the vent position?
Yes GO to E2 No GO to E3 - E2 CHECK THE MOTOR/MODULE FOR INITIALIZATION
- Carry out the roof opening panel motor initialization procedure. Refer to: Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization .
Is the concern still present?
Yes GO to E3 No The system is operating normally at this time. The roof opening panel motor was not initialized. - E3 CHECK THE POWER WINDOWS
- Ignition ON.
- Verify the power windows operate.
Do the power windows operate?
Yes GO to E4 No Diagnose the accessory delay relay circuit. Refer to: Glass, Frames and Mechanisms . - E4 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR/MODULE VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Disconnect roof opening panel motor C921 .
- Ignition ON.
Is each voltage within 0.2 volt of battery voltage?
Yes GO to E5 No VERIFY BCM fuses 27 (30A) and 23 (10A) are OK. If OK, REPAIR the affected circuit for high resistance or an open. If not OK, REFER to the OEM Electrical Wiring Diagram Introduction (Except Hybrid/Energi) to identify the cause of the circuit short. - E5 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C921-4 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to E6 No REPAIR the circuit. - E6 CHECK ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to E7 - E7 CHECK ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Are the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to E8 No REPAIR the circuit. - E8 CHECK ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH TO ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C930-18 C921-5 C930-20 C921-6 C930-19 C921-7
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to E9 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- E9 CHECK ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
- Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to E10 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- E10 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C930-1 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to E11 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure:
- E11 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR/MODULE FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Check the roof opening panel motor connector for:
- Corrosion
- Bent or pushed-out pins
- Connect all roof opening panel electrical connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes INSTALL a new roof opening panel control switch. Refer to: Overhead Console . TEST the system for normal operation. If the concern is still present, INSTALL a new roof opening panel motor/module. REFER to: Roof Opening Panel Motor . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. - Check the roof opening panel motor connector for:
