Compass Module: Removal

NOTE: Do not bend or crease the headliner during removal or installation. Failure to follow this will result in damage to the headliner.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. 1.

    WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article, refer to Health and Safety Precautions . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

  1. 2.

    Remove both A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .

  1. 3.

    1. 1.

      Disconnect the headliner RH electrical connector.

    1. 2.

      Detach the headliner washer hose coupling.

    1. 3.

      Release the clips and position the RH wire harness aside.

  1. 4.

    If equipped. Remove the dome lamp and disconnect the electrical connectors.

  1. 5.

    If equipped, remove the overhead console. Refer to: Overhead Console .

  1. 6.

    If equipped. Remove the rear view mirror cover.

  1. 7.

    If equipped. Disconnect the rear view mirror electrical connector.

  1. 8.

    Remove the cover, screw, detach the retainers and position aside both upper B-pillar trim panels.

  1. 9.

    Remove both D-pillar trim panels. Refer to: D-Pillar Trim Panel - 5-Door . Refer to: D-Pillar Trim Panel - 4-Door .

  1. 10.

    NOTE: 4 door vehicles only.

    Remove both upper C-pillar trim panels. Refer to: C-Pillar Upper Trim Panel .

  1. 11.

    1. 1.

      Remove the covers and screws.

    1. 2.

      Remove both sunvisors.

    1. 3.

      Disconnect the electrical connector.

  1. 12.

    NOTE: Assist handle shown, garment hooks similar.

    Remove the screws and the passenger front assist handle and both rear garment hooks.

  1. 13.

    NOTE: 5 door vehicles only

    Disconnect and plug the rear window washer hose from the RH D-pillar.

  1. 14.

    NOTE: 5 door shown, 4 door similar.

    Position the front door, rear door and the liftgate dynamic seal aside.

  1. 15.

    Remove the head restraints.

    Remove the screws, push-pins and position aside the headliner.

  1. 17.

    NOTE: Gently pry the compass module away from the headliner or damage to the headliner may occur.

    Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the compass module.
