Pinpoint Test Ad : The Safety Belt Warning Or Belt-Minder ® Chime Is Inoperative
- AD1 CHECK THE WARNING CHIME OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Operate the hazard function.
Does the hazard tick-tock tone sound?
Yes GO to AD2 No GO to Pinpoint Test A - AD2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes For DTC U0140:00, GO to Pinpoint Test BF For DTC U0151:00, GO to Pinpoint Test BH
For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC Chart: IPC .No GO to AD3 - AD3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No GO to AD4 - AD4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the RCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to: Airbag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) . No GO to AD5 - AD5 CHECK THE DRIVER SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, monitor the RCM driver safety belt buckle Parameter Identification (PID) (SBELT_D_ST) while buckling and unbuckling the driver safety belt.
Does the Parameter Identification (PID) display BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled?
Yes GO to AD6 No INSTALL a new safety belt buckle. Refer to: Front Seatbelt Buckle . If the safety belt warning chime is still inoperative, INSTALL a new RCM. Refer to: Restraints Control Module (RCM) . - AD6 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING INDICATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Within one minute, buckle then unbuckle, the driver front safety belt while monitoring the safety belt warning indicator.
Does the safety belt warning indicator turn on when the safety belt is unbuckled and turn off when buckled?
Yes GO to AD7 No GO to Pinpoint Test U - AD7 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION
- Verify the speedometer operates.
Does the speedometer operate?
Yes GO to AD8 No GO to Pinpoint Test H - AD8 CHECK THE BELT-MINDER ® CONFIGURATION
- Verify the Belt-Minder ® is activated or configured on for the seating position in question. To configure without a scan tool, REFER to: Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating .
Is the Belt-Minder ® activated for the seating position in question?
Yes If the Belt-Minder ® is always on above with the safety belt unfastened, the system is operating normally. If the Belt-Minder ® is always on with the safety belt fastened or never on with the safety belt unfastened above, Refer to IPC Hardware Testing . No ACTIVATE the Belt-Minder ® for the seating position in question. Refer to: Seatbelt Minder Deactivating/Activating .
