Fuel Tank: Removal

1.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

2.

Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .

3.

Disconnect the battery cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

4.

Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining .

5.

Remove the nuts and position fuel tank heat shield aside.
Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

6.

Disconnect the EVAP tube assembly-to-fuel tank tube quick release coupling and the fuel tank jumper tube-to-Fuel Pump (FP) assembly quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

7.

Disconnect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel tank quick release coupling and the vapor tube assembly-to-EVAP canister quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

8.

Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe from the fuel tank.

9.

Position the Powertrain Jack under the fuel tank. Use the General Equipment: Powertrain Jack

10.

Remove and discard the 3 fuel tank strap bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

11.

Partially lower the fuel tank for access.

12.

Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor electrical connector.

Disconnect the Fuel Pump (FP) module electrical connector.

14.

Lower the fuel tank.
