Repair

  Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .

• 2.
  
  4-door vehicles: Remove the C-pillar trim panel, parcel shelf and lower the headliner. REFER to: C-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL .

• 3.
  
  5-door vehicles: Remove the liftgate trim panel. REFER to: Liftgate Trim Panel - 5-Door .

• 4.
  
  Disconnect the rear window glass electrical connectors.

• 5.
  
  Clean the interior and exterior of the rear window glass surface with glass cleaner.

  : Dow Urethane One Step Glass Primer / Betaprime™ 5500/5500A/5500SA

  Material

  : Sika Urethane Metal and Glass Primer / Sika 206 G+P

  Material

  : Motorcraft® Ultra-Clear Spray Glass Cleaner / ZC-23 (ESR-M14P5-A)

  Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.

• 7.
  
  
  NOTE: Use either an Air Caulking Gun or a high-ratio, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that applies the urethane adhesive with less effort and a continuous bead.
  NOTE: Make sure there are no gaps in the urethane adhesive bead.

  Apply the urethane adhesive over the top of the existing urethane adhesive.

  • Apply the urethane adhesive to the top and sides of the rear window glass from the interior of the vehicle.

  • 4-door vehicles: From outside the vehicle, apply the urethane adhesive to the bottom of the rear window glass.

  • 5-door vehicles: From inside the vehicle, apply the urethane adhesive to the bottom of the rear window glass from the interior of the vehicle.

  NOTE: The urethane adhesive must cure for a minimum of one hour before testing for air or water leaks.

  After the urethane adhesive cures, check the rear window glass seal for air or water leaks through the urethane adhesive bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.

  Connect the rear window glass electrical connectors.

• 11.
  
  4-door vehicles: Raise the headliner and install the C-pillar trim panel and parcel shelf. REFER to: C-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL .

• 12.
  
  5-door vehicles: Install the liftgate trim panel. REFER to: Liftgate Trim Panel - 5-Door .
