Compass Module: Removal

1. 1.
   
   Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .

1. 2.
   
   Remove both A-pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .

1. 3.
   
   Release the headliner wiring harness retainers from the RH A-pillar and disconnect and plug the rear window washer hose.

   For vehicles without an overhead console, remove the sunglass holder.

1. 5.
   
   Disconnect the electrical connectors.

   For vehicles equipped with an overhead console, remove the overhead console. Refer to: OVERHEAD CONSOLE .

1. 7.
   
   For vehicles equipped with an auto dimming rear view mirror, remove the rain sensor upper and lower covers.

   For vehicles equipped with an auto dimming rear view mirror, disconnect the rear view mirror and rain sensor electrical connectors.

   Position aside both upper B-pillar trim panels.

1. 10.
   
   Position aside the front and rear door weatherstrip from around the upper B-pillar trim panel.

1. 11.
   
   Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel screw cover.

1. 12.
   
   Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel screw.

1. 13.
   
   Disconnect the upper clips of the lower B-pillar trim panel from the upper B-pillar trim panel.

1. 14.
   
   Release the 2 upper B-pillar trim panel clips and position the upper B-pillar aside.

   Remove both D-pillar trim panels. Refer to: D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL - 5-Door.

1. 16.
   
   Remove both sun visors.

1. 17.
   
   Remove both sun visor screws.

1. 18.
   
   Position the upper corner of the headliner down to access the sun visor electrical connector, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sun visor.

   NOTE: Assist handle shown in illustration, garment hooks similar.

   Remove the passenger front assist handle and both rear garment hooks.

   Disconnect and plug the rear window washer hose from the RH D-pillar.

   Position aside all weatherstrip from around the headliner.

   Position front passenger and rear seats.

1. 23.
   
   Position the rear seat backrest in the full flat position.

1. 24.
   
   Position the front seats in the full forward and full reclined position.

1. 25.
   
   Remove both front passenger seat headrest restraints.

   With the help of an assistant remove both sun visor clips and remove both headliner rear pin-type retainer and position the headliner down.

   NOTE: Gently pry the compass module away from the headliner or damage to the headliner may occur.
