Pinpoint Test I : The Tachometer Is Inoperative

I1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST

Ignition ON.

Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes	REFER to ENGINE CONTROLS - SYMPTOM CHARTS (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID)
No	GO to I2.

I2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST

Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes	For DTC U0100:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AS . For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart - IPC in DTC Chart(s)
No	For the base IPC, GO to I4. For the optional IPC, GO to I3.

I3 CHECK THE DISPLAY MODE MENU

In the display mode menu, press the message center (LH steering wheel) switch to the right to display the tachometer.

Start the engine.

Does the tachometer display and operate?

Yes	The tachometer is operating correctly at this time. The display mode was set to the tachometer off display.
No	GO to I4.

I4 CARRY OUT THE TACHOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.

NOTE: On the optional IPC, make sure to use the analog style tachometer for this test. The tachometer is displayed in the LH display screen. Refer to the Owner's Literature for the menu options and selections.

Select the IPC tachometer (TACH_IND) PID.

Command the tachometer in 10% increments while monitoring the tachometer.

Does the tachometer increase approximately 700 rpm with each 10% increment?

Yes	INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Electronic Engine Controls .
No	INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
