Pinpoint Test F : The Speedometer Is Inoperative

  1. F1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to ENGINE CONTROLS - SYMPTOM CHARTS (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID)
    No  GO to  F2.

  2. F2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  For DTC U0100:00, GO to Pinpoint Test AS . For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart - IPC in DTC Chart(s) 
    No  GO to  F3.

  3. F3 CARRY OUT THE SPEEDOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

    • Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
    • Select the IPC speedometer (SPDOMETER) PID.
    • Command the speedometer on and off while monitoring the speedometer.

    Does the speed begin at 0 km/h (0 mph), move to 225 km/h (140 mph), and return to 0 km/h (0 mph)? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Electronic Engine Controls . TEST the system for normal operation.
    No  INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
