- 1.NOTE: If the eleventh VIN character (assembly plant code) is L, (Michigan Assembly - Wayne, Michigan), module configuration (PMI) is required when new module is installed. Other vehicles do not require PMI.1. If a new module will be installed and the eleventh VIN character is L, upload the module configuration to the scan tool by following the instructions on the scan tool.
