Pinpoint Test C: The Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative

C1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes : For DTC U0100:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AC
  For DTC U0140:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AF
  
  For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to DTC CHART: IPC in this service information.
2. No : GO to C2
C2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes : Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - INTRODUCTION (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) (SECTION 0) .
2. No : GO to C3
C3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
1. Yes : REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
2. No : GO to C4
C4 CHECK THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE OPERATION USING THE DEALER TEST MODE
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the temperature gauge.
- Ignition OFF.
- Enter the Dealer Test Mode.
  REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) - SYSTEM OPERATION AND COMPONENT DESCRIPTION .
- Scroll to gauge sweep.
- Monitor the temperature gauge when the gauge sweep initiates.
Does the temperature gauge start at cold (C), move to full hot (H) and return to cold (C)?
1. Yes : INSTALL a new PCM .
  REFER to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
2. No : INSTALL a new IPC .
  REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
