Pinpoint Test Bk: A Transmission Malfunction Display Is Never Or Always On

  1. BK1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION 
    • Close all doors.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Open the driver front door and observe the message center operation.

    Does the message center display the driver door ajar message? 

    1. Yes  : GO to BK2 
    2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST A 
  2. BK2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC  self-test.

    Are any DTC recorded? 

    1. Yes  : For DTC U0100:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AC 

      For DTC U0140:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AF 

      For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC CHART: IPC  in this service information.

    2. No  : GO to BK3 
  3. BK3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the TCM  self-test.

    Are any TCM DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION .
    2. No  : GO to BK4 
  4. BK4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM  self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes  : REFER to: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No  : If the transmission malfunction display is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time.

      If the transmission malfunction display is always on, INSTALL a new TCM  .

      REFER to: TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) .

      TEST the system for normal operation. If the transmission malfunction display remains on, INSTALL a new IPC  .

      REFER to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
