Instrument Panel Upper Section: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Refer to: HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
Remove both A-pillar trim panels.
Refer to: A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
Both sides.
Torque : 18 lb.in (2 Nm)
Disconnect the battery.
Refer to: BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
Torque : 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
Remove the front floor console.
Refer to: FLOOR CONSOLE - VEHICLES WITHOUT: CENTER ARMREST .

Refer to: FLOOR CONSOLE - VEHICLES WITH: CENTER ARMREST .
Depending on vehicle option content, remove the FCDIM or the FDIM .
Refer to: FRONT DISPLAY INTERFACE MODULE (FDIM) (Vehicles With: Sony AM/FM/CD/SYNC/Touchscreen Display).

Refer to: FRONT CONTROL/DISPLAY INTERFACE MODULE (FCDIM) (Vehicles With: AM/FM/CD/SYNC).
Torque : 9 lb.in (1 Nm)
Vehicles equipped with the premium audio system remove the APIM .
Refer to: SYNC MODULE [APIM] .
Vehicles without intelligent access.
Vehicles with intelligent access.
Remove and discard the steering column shaft-to-steering gear bolt and disconnect the steering column shaft from the steering gear.
Torque : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
Remove and discard the 4 steering column bolts and remove the steering column.
Torque : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)
Torque : 9 lb.in (1 Nm)
If equipped with intelligent access
NOTE: To avoid damaging the upper section, the aid of an assistant is required to carry out this step.

NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the upper section or damage to the components may occur.

NOTE: Install all the bolts finger tight before final tightening.

Remove the instrument panel upper section.

Torque : 27 lb.in (3 Nm)
