Oil Pan: Installation
All vehicles
- 1.NOTE: Do not apply sealant to oil pan-to-engine front cover mating surface if the engine front cover is removed.NOTE: If the oil pan is not secured within 10 minutes of sealant application, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 10 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.NOTE: Apply sealant to the oil pan-to-engine block and to the oil pan-to-engine front cover mating surfaces.
Apply a 3 mm bead of silicone sealant.
Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Gasket and Sealant / TA-30 (WSE-M4G323-A4)
- 3.NOTE: The engine front cover-to-oil pan fasteners must be tightened first to align the front surface of the oil pan flush with the front surface of the engine block.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Install the engine front cover-to-oil pan bolts.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- 5.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.NOTE: Alternate tightening the LH bellhousing-to-engine and RH engine-to-bellhousing lower bolts to draw the transaxle and engine together.
Tighten the bolts and the stud bolt.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- 8.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Install the engine mounting restrictor.
Torque: 63 lb.ft (86 Nm)
- 9.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Tighten the bolt.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- 10.
Position back the A/C compressor, install the compressor shield and the bolts.Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- 13.NOTE: Lubricate the engine oil filter gasket with clean engine oil prior to installing the oil filter.
Install a new engine oil filter.
Material: Motorcraft® SAE 5W-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W20-QSP (WSS-M2C945-A)
Torque:
Stage 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
Stage 2: 180°
- 14.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Connect the ground wire and install the nut.
Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
- 15.
Install the A/C compressor belt. REFER to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt
- 16.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Install the bolts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
Vehicles with automatic transmission
- 17.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Position back the selector lever cable and install the bolts.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- 18.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
Connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
All vehicles
- 19.NOTE: This step does not apply if the engine front cover is removed.
